When on the water be prepared!
Even though I hate to acknowledge it, November isn’t very far in the future and with November come the famous November gale winds. If you are one of those adventurous souls that feel invincible when on the water with the wind in your face, then you are the ones that should definitely be checking your safety equipment on board to keep those with you safe when out with you. You should be checking to see if you have good enough marine speaker so as to not distort emergency broadcasts; you should have a VHF marine radio (either a hand held VHF marine radio or a fixed mount VHF marine radio) on board to receive the latest broadcasts from the USCG on weather alerts; and you should have an emergency kit on board which should definitely include a water resistant hand held VHF Marine Radio so if you had to abandon ship, you would still be able to send and receive emergency signals and communications until you are located by the Coast Guard.
