Make your weekend an “event”…
Now, obviously I’m not talking about the new TV series with the same name. I am talking about the great experience you and your guests can have when you turn on the tunes in your back yard, or on your boat! This past weekend we had the most wonderful weather you could ever want for this time of the yearon the north shore of Lake Superior! We had warm temperatures as well as a strong breeze to keep the flies away and keep us cool. What a great time to sit back, turn on the tunes with your Marine Radio Receiver, and enjoy the great out-of-doors!! You are no longer limited to listening to what a DJ decides to play over the airwaves – you can simply plug in your MP3 memory stick or your I-Pod pre-recorded music and listen away!! Yesterday I actually went out on the lake in a very small paddle boat and just drifted in the wind for a long while. Although it was impossible on that small craft, I did think how nice it would have been to simply have some nice music playing as I drifted along. Enjoy your week! Happy Boater.
Sound doesn’t get better – just the equipment does!!
I recall driving down the road in cars that didn’t even have an FM band available on the radio!! The only thing available was the old AM radio band. Unless you were within 50 miles of the broadcasting station you could just about forget it. Bringing back any memories for any of you?? Then there were the earth shaking inventions that hit the market – seemingly all in a bunch!! There was the 8-Track tape player, then some car radios came with an 8-track built in. Along with these you could wire in a “reverberator” into your car’s sound system which gave the sound kind of a hollow sound. The Cassette tapes followed that. Then the FM Converter allowed folks without an FM radio to hear FM music stations by plugging them into your cassette player slot. CD’s naturally followed this and this opened up the “digital” field. Now everything is digital which has improved sound quality immensely!! I know I dated myself by even writing this, but who cares!! I think it’s fun to remember all these things and to know that I lived through the transition of it all. My grandson came to our house and I was converting a lot of my old LP records into digital on my computer so I could download them to an MP3 or WAV format for listening. When he saw the LP record, he gasped that he had never seen such a big CD in his life!! haha!! …the world goes on….. Anyway I ended up with my music recorded into a digital format and am now able to take my music with me when out on the water and play it through my marine radio receiver which plays through my waterproof marine speakers on board. Great Sound!! Happy Boater.
Back Yard Symphony…
Just about annually my wife comes up with these “remodeling” ideas for our property. I’m quite sure that none of you ever have experienced this! haha!!! Sometimes the remodeling involves moving a wall, window, or door – or sometimes it is landscaping in the back yard! Now, this can be fun! There are waterproof marine speakers available now that can produce a very high quality sound when used as the output speakers through a stereo player or by simply using MP3 or I-Pod pre-recorded music. Why not make the most of your remodeling project and wire your outdoor back yard project with sound?? You are only limited to your imagination because the quality speakers do the rest for you! A nice addition to this sound system would be a marine radio receiver to power this system. Aren’t wives wonderful!! Happy Boater.
Summer Fun!
I don’t know about you, but I really enjoy the summer! Now – let me be quick to say that I don’t necessarily like HOT weather, but in general, I really enjoy the summer! I live in a part of the United States that is very beautiful and I never get tired of looking at the beauty surrounding me. The picture of the lighthouse on my website (www.marineradiosonline.com) is about 15 minutes from my home right on the shores of Lake Superior. What fun, though to have a few friends over and have a BBQ on the pontoon. I simply bring a grill out on the water, cook up a few “specialties” ranging from brats to polish sausage to chicken to pork chops! It’s hard to find something that is more relaxing than being out on the water, cooking up your favorite meal on the grill, and enjoying your favorite music played through your marine radio receiver. A quality marine audio system is more affordable than it ever has been. Make the most of your summer with your friends and a great sounding sound system! Happy Boater.
Marine Radio receivers add enjoyment!
There are a lot of marine radios on the market. Some of them even allow weather channel information to be picked up for the safety of all those on board. With the new technology out there, one would have to wonder why everyone wouldn’t have a high quality marine radio receiver
installed on their pontoon, their boat, or even installed on the patio in the back yard of your home! What a nice addition to any gathering of friends – music, music, music! With the new marine radios, you have the option to play your own favorite recorded music as they have a place to allow you to plug in your MP3 player or your I-Pod. Then there’s nothing else to do but to sit back and enjoy your day on the water with your friends! Happy Boater.
Be considerate when placing your speakers!
There is much to be said for having great quality marine speakers attached to your marine radio receiver and being able to listen to high quality sound through those great marine speakers. You must, however, realize that not everyone enjoys your music as much as you do so when selecting your music and ultimately setting the volume control on your receiver, step back and take note how it might sound to someone nearby – say a neighbor – or maybe someone on the other side of the lake if your speakers are aimed at the shoreline. I experienced such a situation this weekend. I could barely carry on a conversation with my guests at my summer home because someone was not being considerate on the other side of the bay and blaring their music towards the shoreline. You must remember that sound carries over water much easier than it does over land. I probably wouldn’t have minded so much, but what he was playing through his unit barely qualified as music – more like noise. I was not pleased and my guests were wondering why I didn’t do something about it. I was hoping it was a 1-time thing and this wouldn’t be an ongoing problem, but I guess if it does continue, I’m going to have to make a neighborly visit and invite my neighbor over to my cabin so he can listen first hand just how loud his system is in my yard (about 2 blocks away). Try to always be considerate when using outdoor sound equipment – you may not even realize just how much your “fun” may be cutting into the “fun” of others. There’s plenty of ways that everyone can enjoy the day at the same time!! Happy Boater.
Tune the tunes in…
Sound too good to be true that you can have your own recorded music play through an MP3 format while on board your favorite boat on a very nice day on the water? It’s really not far fetched at all! Modern technology makes it real easy to accomplish just that. Why not share the music with the others on board instead of being privately “plugged in” to your music machine! Quality of sound? Not a problem. With your music playing through a quality marine radio receiver and assuming that your boat is equipped with a nice pair of marine speakers and marine subwoofer speakers, you can produce a very high quality of sound.
